Complete Streets

Complete Streets

Share the RoadComplete Streets are streets designed and operated to enable safe access for all users. Pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities must be able to safely move along and across a complete street. Complete Streets make it easy to cross the street, walk to shops, and bicycle to work. They allow buses to run on time and make it safe for people to walk to and from train stations.

At Avenues in Motion, we strongly promote the development of complete streets to ensure that everyone in the northwest quadrant of the state has the access and ability to safely and conveniently get where they need to go. In New Jersey, the state Department of Transportation has adopted a policy stating that they “…shall implement a Complete Streets policy through the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of new and retrofit transportation facilities, enabling safe access and mobility of pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users of all ages and abilities.”
