Safe Corridors Funding

New Jersey was awarded nearly $2.5 million in federal funding. $500,000 was issued to install identification signs along the seven designated New Jersey byways and nearly $300,000 was awarded to create pedestrian and bicycle linkages across Interstate 280 and its frontage streets in Orange.

Not to be out done by the Federal Government, the State of New Jersey also announced that $3 million in grants will go to 59 municipalities through their Safe Corridors grant program. The program is designed to promote safety and provide resources for the 14 ten-mile segments of highways that have been designated as Safe Corridor highway segments due to their history of high crash rates. In our area, Morris County towns alone will get more than $108,000, Fairfield in Essex County will get $23,904 and towns in Passaic County will get a combined $72,087!
