TransOptions Can Even Help the Small Workplace
In mid-November, the small Pine Brook worksite of Samsung QA Lab America contacted TransOptions because staff members were exploring options to get to work in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. They already had staff who carpooled, but were searching for other resources to address gas rationing, including partnering with their larger worksite in Ridgefield Park.
Immediately, we were able to provide a referral to the Transportation Management Association in Bergen County (MeadowLink), but we wanted to address the immediate needs of the Pine Brook site.
We conducted a “Whoopie Pie & Learn” for the staff in December, exploring carpooling partnership options based upon employee zip code information. (You have formed a carpool even if you pick someone up half way on your way to work!) In addition, we provided information and resources on biking to work, safe driving habits and Traf-Alerts, our free incident and traffic reporting service.
By having a formal flextime and telecommuting program, Samsung QA Lab America learned they are not only a Bronze New Jersey Smart Workplace (NJSW), but only one activity away from being a Silver Level NJSW.
The Samsung QA Lab America houses Samsung’s Quality Assurance and Environmental & Regulatory Affairs teams. These groups ensure that the company’s products have consistent quality improvement and minimal impact on the environment. We are thrilled with how enthusiastic they are about their new relationship with TransOptions.
