TransOptions Grows Ridership 20%
Over 550 commuters in northwest New Jersey are riding to work in vanpools arranged by TransOptions. Ridership is up 20% in the last year in this financially attractive transportation option for a group of five or more co-workers traveling 30 miles or more each way. In addition to reducing the cost of their commute, vanpool riders reduced the amount of pollutants being discharged into the air by 6,650,010 pounds last year!
The NJTransit sponsorship program and employer-sponsored incentives, where available, further reduce the cost of a vanpool commute and motivate many commuters to share a ride. Picatinny Arsenal, a military installation in Morris County, encourages vanpool formation for their employees who comprise 86% of vanpools registered with TransOptions.
