The Northwest New Jersey Bike to Work Challenge is a free, friendly competition where everyone from avid veteran commuters to newbies can get together to compete for prizes and bragging rights. That is because our big Champion Challenger prize winners compete through trips taken, not just miles traveled. Our goal is to encourage commuters to more frequently use a bike instead of a motorized vehicle to further reduce traffic and air pollution. So it's a win-win for everyone!
Here’s how it works:
Step 1 – Create your online profile by registering for the challenge.
Step 2 – Start riding. Ride to work, ride to the train, ride to the bus or drive part of the way and bike the rest. As long as you are on a bike it counts!
Step 3 – Starting May 1st, log into your profile and enter your miles traveled to and/or from work.
It's that easy! But you can also increase your chances of winning a prize by choosing to create or join a Bike Team with up to four other registered Challengers. No additional effort is necessary on your part when you join or create a team. Simply commute by bike, log your miles traveled and your trips will be automatically added to your teammate’s. Bike Teams are a really fun way to get your friends to ride with you!
The Challenge is open to anyone (age 18+) who lives or works in TransOptions' service area and commutes by bike! This year, even if you cannot compete in the Challenge, we want to give all of our bike lovers a chance to celebrate National Bike to Work Month. So even if you can’t bike to work you can show your support for biking by signing our Town Trekker Pledge to use your bike at least once a week throughout May.
