With the new transportation law, MAP-21, a new focus on performance measures was adopted. The US Department of Transportation has been tasked with developing standards on which to measure success. What measures do you think should be considered to track our performance?
The DOT's website allows members of the public and of the transportation community to contribute ideas and vote for or against other proposals for performance measures. Some have said "consideration should be given to including a measure of incident clearance time," while others suggested "using measures that incorporate average travel times, such as for an average home to work commute time, which is a modal-neutral measure."
