What began on April 22, 1970 as a national campaign about the earth and natural resources has grown to a world-wide moment in time, annually focusing awareness on protecting our global environment. Over one billion people are expected to participate in events around the globe this year. Check out the official Earth Day Website!
Earth Day was the basis of what we now call the environmental movement, and the first environmental legislation, the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. Those acts inspired the formation of TransOptions which is one of New Jersey’s eight state-wide Transportation Management Associations.
Our programs encourage the use of alternative transportation to conserve natural resources and reduce traffic congestion which in turn reduces the amount of pollutants going into the air.
In the spirit of Earth Day, TransOptions encourages you to consider transportation options. Try taking public transit, carpooling, vanpooling, riding a bike or walking instead of driving solo. We're hoping the benefits convince you to honor Earth Day throughout the year!
