John became president of TransOptions, formerly Morris County Rides (MCRIDES), in November 1999, after a 20 year career in New York State and City government.
He served as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Special Prosecutor's office and as Inspector General of the Department of Consumer Affairs and then Parks & Recreation. His last position was as Assistant Commissioner for Management with the City of New York, Parks & Recreation, a major operating agency with a then-annual budget of $150 million and 5,000 employees. Among his responsibilities as a member of the executive staff of that agency were purchasing, payroll, management planning and analysis, information systems, employee training and internal audit and budget functions. He also assisted in the establishment of the City Parks Foundation, a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the Parks Department to raise money for projects for which public funding is unavailable.
John has a bachelor's degree from Fordham University, a law degree from Fordham Law School and a Masters of Science in Management from New York University, for which he received a New York City Mayor's Graduate Scholarship.
