Jessica Lubas, Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Specialist

Jess joined TransOptions in February 2016. She facilitates pedestrian and bicycle education programs for children and adults. This includes Traffic Safety Town, an immersive, role-playing exercise that helps 3rd to 5th grade students develop safe pedestrian practices. This free program is integrated into elementary schools’ curriculums across TransOptions’ service area. Jess shares her enthusiasm for cycling as a coach for Bike Right® Learn to Ride classes for children and adults. She also helps deliver environmental education programs, focused on energy and sustainability, to middle school students. This includes the annual Junior Solar Sprints competition and preparatory workshops for participating students.

Jess’ experience encompasses creating interactive, environmental education curriculums and land management for private reserves, agroforestry companies, state parks and community centers. She has worked with diverse audiences, from toddlers to older adults, to bridge personal and environmental wellbeing for sustainable communities. Jess earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Town Planning & Public Health from Ithaca College. She currently coaches a local elementary school running team for girls.
