TransOptions to Host Lunar Golf Classic Night-Time Tournament Funds Environmental Education Programs for Kids

Have you ever thought about playing golf at night? Now you can at The Lunar Golf Classic, an innovative night time golf tournament hosted by TransOptions at Pinch Brook Golf Course in Florham Park on September 21, 2012 (rain date September 28, 2012). Funds raised by the golf tournament will be used to provide Environmental Education programs at no cost to northwest New Jersey kids and schools.

TransOptions is carrying forward the annual lunar golf event created 17 years ago by Morris Tomorrow. The community organization closed in 2010 after 25 years of helping guide Morris County’s progress by creating sustainable and innovative programs. "We’re excited to continue a Morris Tomorrow tradition by holding this fun event to benefit Environmental Education programs in area schools," comments John F. Ciaffone, TransOptions President.

The unique, nine hole golf event begins at 8:00pm. Players will find their way around the course lit by moonlight, flashlights held by a team of volunteers and illuminated golf balls along with tee boxes, yardage markers, flagsticks and cup holes that glow a bright green. After the tournament, participants can enjoy a catered late night breakfast where prizes will be awarded for categories including the longest drive and most lost golf balls.

Golfers can register as a team of four or sign up individually and be assigned to a team. The green fee is $125 per participant; teams of four receive a discount.

Sponsorship packages are offered at multiple levels starting at $100. Donations of in-kind prizes such as event tickets, restaurant dinners, gift certificates, corporate products or sports paraphernalia are welcomed. A limited number of volunteer opportunities are also available.
