New Motorcycle Safety Campaign from Brain Injury Alliance

Written by Wendy Berk, Public Education Coordinator with Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey

The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey, along with Rider Insurance, has created a motorcycle safety campaign to help raise awareness among motorists about the need to share the road with motorcyclists. As part of our campaign, we’re asking drivers to visit our website,, where you will find tips, information and tools that will empower you to make the roads safer for motorcyclists-simply by sharing the road. You can then take a PLEDGE to share the road with motorcyclists. It's so easy; just visit

AND when you sign the pledge you are entered into weekly drawings (the prizes are gas cards) throughout the motorcycle riding season. Remember, smart drivers make safe roads!

We’re also asking motorcyclists to do their part to help NJ roads be safer for everyone by pledging to be a safe rider. Visit to find facts and information about how the proper gear, good judgment and training classes can help you to be a smart rider. Then, to take the PLEDGE to promise to be a safe rider, visit

Each month we will give away a $250 cash reimbursement toward the purchase of a DOT-approved helmet, other protective gear, or the cost of a New Jersey-certified motorcycle course to randomly selected winners. Be alert, aware and in control before you hop on your bike!

Did you know:

  • About 2,500 crashes involving motorcycles happen each year in New Jersey
  • About 1,250 crashes involve another motor vehicle

Please help us spread the word this riding season so that we can all do our part to make our roadways safer for everyone! For additional information, contact us at
