Just Wild about that MAD Shuttle!
Located in Morristown, The College of St. Elizabeth (CSE) was established by the Sisters of Charity in 1899 as the state's first four-year Catholic college for women and now includes impressive Continuing Education and Graduate programs for women and men, with over 500 part-time undergraduate, 650 full-time undergraduate, and 300 graduate students.
CSE formed a Green Team and encourages students and staff to use alternative transportation, including the NJ Transit bus lines, Convent Station train station and the Madison Avenue Direct (MAD) Shuttle. The MAD shuttle, run by TransOptions, operates 6 days per week and brings students, faculty, staff and residents to Downtown Madison without adding unnecessary traffic congestion. And they are committed! As part of a local stakeholder group including the Madison Downtown Development Commission and two other Madison Area Colleges, CSE contributes financially to the local match amount required under the grant that pays for the shuttle.
TransOptions presented a well-attended Safe Walking Program for students as well as an informational session on the MAD Shuttle. We have also participated at their annual Safety Fair and Earth Day celebrations.
CSE has been continuously enthusiastic about working with TransOptions. In 2011 they were a bronze-level NJ Smart Workplace, for 2012 they moved up to silver and are well on their way to platinum in 2013!
