You may not realize, but ridesharing has been made famous in movies and T.V.! That is why TransOptions is counting down our 10 favorite rideshare moments in cinema and television! We know not all the characters that made the countdown are riding to work, but they are sharing a ride and using one car (or spaceship) to get to their destination. See if your favorite ridesharing characters and scenes made our list!
10. Bonnie and Clyde: fAYE dUNAWAY & wARREN bEATTY
We know this film is a classic but these two should not be your rideshare idols! Based on the real-life outlaws, Bonnie and Clyde are a villainous ridesharing couple that travels from town to town robbing banks. Shame on them, but hey, they get points for sharing the car.
9. Ted: mARK wAHLBERG & sETH mACfARLANE
We don't recommend having your obnoxious teddy bear, who can barely see over the steering wheel, drive to work with you because of obvious safety hazards. But hey, that’s why it’s a movie. So kudos to Ted and John (Mark Wahlberg) for choosing to share the ride!
8. Tommy Boy: cHRIS fARLEY & dAVID sPADE
Talk about a stressful, but hilarious rideshare trip. On the way, the two find themselves in several unlikely and absurd dilemmas.
7. Star Wars: hARRISON fORD & pETER mAYHEW
Han Solo and Chewbacca had no trouble cracking our top 10, as these intergalactic space smugglers share a ride piloting the impressive "Millennium Falcon" throughout the Star Wars films. 5. The Jetsons
Our favorite futuristic ridesharing family is the Jetsons! George Jetson uses his flying car to drop his children off at school and his wife to go shopping all on his way to work. According to the Jetsons, carpooling will still be cool in the future!
4. Wayne's World
Galileo! Galileo! In an epic scene full of bad 80’s hair and headbangin’ goodness, the cast of Wayne’s World ride together to go pick up their drunk friend and breakout into Bohemian Rhapsody on the way.
…And we take full responsibility for Bohemian Rhapsody getting stuck in your head.
3. Batman AND ROBIN
Holy-rideshare, Batman! Here is another carpool classic for you, the original Batman and Robin played by Adam West and Burt Ward. This infamous duo share rides in the Batmobile when fighting crime throughout the series.
2. Men In Black: WILL SMITH & TOMMY LEE JONES
Here’s a tip from our next ridesharers: ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT because you never know when you might blast off and drive upside down through the Midtown Tunnel in hyper speed. In the first Men in Black movie, Agent J and Agent K spend a lot of time ridesharing while policing the underground society of extraterrestrials in New York City.
1. Scooby Doo: Scooby & The Gang
They might be "meddling kids," but at least they vanpool! Scooby and The Gang are the only vanpoolers to make our list, and they earned top billing for it. The group rides together in the infamous “Mystery Machine” van on their way to solving mysteries and bringing bad guys to justice.
